Ingredients

  • 4 ½ oz Flour and a little extra for forming the dumplings. 125 g
  • 1 tsp. Baking Powder
  • 1 Pinch Salt
  • 1 Pinch Black Pepper
  • 2 ½ oz Suet
  • 1 Tbsp. Parsley, chopped according to preference.
  • 3 Tbsp. Water, cold

Instructions

  • Mix the flour, baking powder, salt and pepper well in a small bowl.
  • Stir through the suet and parsley, if using.
  • Make a well in the centre and add the water, then mix to a smooth dough.
  • Add more water if necessary, until the dough is firm but pliable.
  • Dust the dumpling mix with flour and divide into 8 pieces.
  • Roll each dumpling by hand, flattening slightly and place on top of a stew.
  • Add to the stew, cover and cook for 20 minutes.
  • Flip over, cover and cook for another 10 minutes until cooked and serve.

Notes

Additional items can be added to the dumpling mix such as spices, herbs, caraway seeds, mustard, horseradish, and sauteed onion.
