
Black Poppy Seed Tuiles
Delicately crisp, lacy tuiles speckled with Black Poppy Seeds. Lightly caramelised with buttery sweetness and subtle nuttiness. Perfect as a garnish for desserts, ice cream, or cheese plates.

Equipment
- 1 Mixing Bowl
- 1 Whisk
- 1 Baking Tray
- 1 Mould or Rolling Pin to form when cooling
Ingredients
- 60 g Unsalted Butter melted ¼ cup
- 60 g Icing Sugar ½ cup
- 1 each Egg White 1 each
- 30 g Plain Flour ¼ cup
- 1½ tbsp Black Poppy Seeds 1½ tbsp
- Pinch Fine Sea Salt
Instructions
- Whisk the Egg White lightly until just foamy.
- Stir in the Icing Sugar, followed by the melted Butter.
- Fold in the Plain Flour, Black Poppy Seeds, and Salt until smooth.
- Rest the batter 10–15 minutes.
- Spread thin 7–8cm circles onto a lined baking tray using the back of a spoon.
- Bake at 170°C (340°F) for 7–9 minutes until golden at the edges.
- Remove immediately and drape over a rolling pin or mould while warm to shape. Cool until crisp.
Notes
Spread very thin — translucency equals elegance.
For savoury use, reduce sugar slightly and add a pinch of White Pepper.
