Ingredients

  • 6 6-8oz Salmon Filet or Steaks
  • 2 Tbspns Vegetable Oil
  • ½ Cup Soy Sauce
  • 1 Cup Water take 2 Tablespoons out to mix with the arrowroot
  • 1 Tbspn Sesame Oil
  • ½" Piece Ginger finely grated
  • 1 Clove Garlic finely grated
  • 1 Tbspn Brown Sugar
  • ¼ Cup Rice Wine or Sherry
  • 1 Tbspn Rice Wine Vinegar
  • 1 Tbspn Arrowroot cornstarch can be used but will not give the same clear glaze
  • 1 Tbspn Sesame Seeds toasted

Instructions

  • Grill or saute the salmon in the vegetable oil until barely cooked.
  • While the salmon is cooking, bring all of the remaining ingredients except the arrowroot and sesame seeds to a boil.
  • Whisk in the arrowroot that has been mixed with the 2 Tablespoons of water and when boiled again, remove from the heat.
  • Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary as brands of Soy sauce vary in their saltiness.
  • Plate the salmon steaks when cooked and spoon the Teriyaki sauce over.
  • Complete with a sprinkling of the sesame seeds.
  • Serve with plain rice and a simple steamed green vegetable.
